True Grit: Classic Scores For The Films
Composer: Elmer Bernstein. Apart fromGlen Campbell's vocal performance on thetitle track and its reprise, this is an all-instrumental collection of vintage, Elmer Bernstein-composed, late-1960s Hollywood film music. It's remarkable in comparison with its 21st-century counterpart for its lack of brooding strings, authentic Native American war chants, or snatches of Americana-laced banjo and dulcimer. Instead, it's a mostly sunny collection of big-country orchestral arrangements with odd snatches of then-trendy electric sitar, with no pretensions to anything other than providing a little background atmosphere, which it does an excellent job of.
